Co-founder Dr. Oren Moscovitz receives the Max Planck Society's Hermann Neuhaus Prize
The Max Planck Society awards €25,000 to Tacalyx's scientific co-founder for his work on lab-made sugars and alpaca nanobodies against cancer.
Tacalyx co-founder Dr. Oren Moscovitz has received the Max Planck Society's Hermann Neuhaus Prize, endowed with €25,000, for his research toward treatments and non-invasive diagnostics for cancer.
Moscovitz and his group at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces exploit the unusual sugar patterns on cancer cells. They develop nanobodies, ultra-small antibodies from alpacas, that bind these sugars, using glycans made in the lab.
Moscovitz started as a group leader at the institute in 2018 and co-founded Tacalyx with Prof. Peter Seeberger in 2019. According to the Max Planck announcement, he plans to continue his research at the Scojen Institute for Synthetic Biology at Reichman University in Israel.
